Khan Academy: Khan Academy features video tutorials that teach about mathematics, history, healthcare, medicine, finance, physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, economics, art history and computer science. Khan Academy would be a great tool to use if you ever needed help on homework that you don't understand and are not able to contact your teacher. I could use this now in school and also be able to use it in college. StudySpanish.com: StudySpanish.com features ways to improve your Spanish speaking in the areas of pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. It has all of these features for beginner, intermediate and advanced Spanish speakers. I could use this in school now because I have Spanish 3 and it would help me if I needed a little extra help. Mathway: Mathway allows you to enter in a math problem in the areas of Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and it will solve the problem and show an explanation of how the problem was solved. This would be useful for me if I didn't understand a certain math problem and I wasn't able to ask my teacher a question, I could learn how to solve the problem myself.
1. 'A Light in the Attic' by Shel Silverstein: This book was banned in Florida because it promoted violence and disrespect.
2. 'The Diary of Anne Frank' by Anne Frank: This book was banned in a Virgina school district due to sexual content after schools begin using the unedited version of the diary and in Alabama in 1983 the school board tried to challenge it because it was "a real downer."
3. 'Call of the Wild' by Jack London: This book was banned in Yugoslavia and Italy because of the author's socialist views and was burned by the Nazis in 1933.
Is Social Media Ruining Students?
Grades: I don't agree completely because I know when I get on Twitter I get distracted and waste time instead of doing my homework but I do agree with the fact that teachers should integrate social media into classrooms because that would for sure make students more interested in what they are learning.
Extra Circulars: I agree that if you are off Facebook you are more likely to want to work more and also agree that if you are on Facebook more that you will be involved in more activities because you are able to keep up more with what is going around you.
Emotions: I agree that Facebook can make you feel both good and bad. Good if you are constantly posting statuses but it can make you feel bad if all you do is read statuses because that can make you feel bad about your own life.
Addiction: I do agree that social media does provide news about what is going on around the world and it is also the quickest way to know and find out what is happening and also agree that it is addicting because it has become a part of our everyday lives.
Self Esteem: I agree that people who do post more on Facebook are more confident and more into themselves because if they are constantly posting statuses that builds confidence.
Study Habits: I agree that students who use Facebook more study less because all it is is a distraction.
